"cd xbmc-Gotham_${pkgver#*_}" failed because directory name from targz is "xbmc-13.0-Gotham_r2"

maybe you can try with xbmc-${pkgver}-Gotham_r${pkgrel}

Freso: Thx for pointing that out, it was a duplicate.

Chais: No it doesn't, it briefly did at some point but it's been a while since I switched it back to tarballs. This is clearly a duplicate, merging into xbmc-devel.

@Freso: Yes I am. The difference is that xbmc-devel enables you to start development. It downloads the complete git (~1.3 GiB) and thus would allow you to build any version of xbmc.
This only downloads the tarball for this specific version (~70 MiB) and this can only build the specified version of xbmc.
Since I don't want to take up development for xbmc I'd rather not download the whole git for every build.

Are you aware of the xbmc-beta package? What is the difference between the two? I feel like probably only one of the two should stick around - any chance you could talk with Chais to see if you can figure something out?

jarfbarker: Using git as source is for *-git packages, *-devel packages ought to package development releases.
I've updated the service file, thx for the heads up.

jarfbarker commented on 2014-03-18 19:07

Also, there is an updated service file in the main repo that is needed to start xbmc on boot.

Out of curiosity, why not use the following for the source?

git://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git#branch=Gotham
