Well 3.3.1 is finally here. A boring changelog:

"µTorrent 3.3.1: Automatic updating, fit-and-finish improvements

µTorrent 3.3.1 joins the list of modern software that's enabling silent, automatic updating. This means that stability improvements, small features and performance enhancements can be passed on without the need for upfront steps by the user.

Among other minor changes for this point release is improved overall fit and finish of the UI. This was achieved through many small adjustments including consolidation of icons, improvement in image quality, and removal of unnecessary lines and spaces. The cumulative result is a less distracting, more organized look that preserves the user experience you're used to.

In addition, we made numerous crash, stability and other improvements (examples: checked 0.0%, rate limiter, increased magnet link size, crash fix in the Plus player)."

@Det Will be using cower in the future. Thanks for the tip!

That's an interesting workflow when you could just use something like yaourt or, in this case, cower.

Then you could at least skip the download/extraction with something like:

$ cd ~/Downloads
$ cower -d utorrent
$ cd utorrent
$ makepkg -si --skipinteg

Or if you were to create a script, e.g. (named 'ms', supports multiple arguments):

Then you could just say 'ms utorrent'.

I have downloaded the tarball and installing it manually worked!

$ cd ~/Downloads
$ wget
$ tar -xzf utorrent.tar.gz
$ cd utorrent
$ makepkg -si --skipchecksums

Thanks for the quick response. :)

I originally thought you just had the old one in your build dir, but actually when trying to download that thing I seem to be getting _3_ kinds of utorrents.

The first two are this thing with the exact same size but different md5sums, while the last one is the not-yet-released 3.3.1 build 29801 (as an RC in here: The one from the RC link is also different from these 3.

I can't really instruct you to do anything here, except to skip the md5sums with '(makepkg -si) --skipinteg', generate them with 'updpkgsums' or just manually "update" them.

==> Validating source files with md5sums...
uTorrent.exe ... FAILED
utorrent ... Passed
settings.dat ... Passed
utorrent.desktop ... Passed
icons.tar.gz ... Passed
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

When I download utorrent.exe from the link in the description I get the same checksum I found in the PKGBUILD:

ad039bd721859550f23064d42e7dda44 utorrent.exe

Could the capital T be the problem (utorrent.exe vs uTorrent.exe)?
