Well, I think I just don't understand what the ttf-noto-sans package is for.
The -nocjk and -cjk split is clear by looking at the PKGBUILD and the source zip files.

Also, any reason you sometimes put files inside OTF and other times inside TTF?

Just to confirm: -sans will get me only normal, -nocjk will get all except CJK and -cjk will get all fonts. Correct?

An alternative to ttf-noto-cjk. A Super OpenType Collection (Super OTC)
that bundles all 4 languages into one large font resource that is smaller
overall because of resource sharing.

I decided to split this into cjk and no-cjk because cjk font files are simply too large. Now these 4 cjk languages* 7 font weights = 28 fonts.

@taylorchu well, something like this, feel free to use: https://github.com/reflexing/ttf-noto/commit/bc53a5aa13166151783ac9d5388b0c0876ae2060

@taylorchu Why don't you mention Google in the pkgdesc? :) How about this from it's page: "Noto is Google’s font family that aims to support all the world’s languages", you even can mention Unicode somewhere there!

I had a problem installing this using aura version 1.2.3.4

The font files copied into /usr/share/fonts/{TTF,OTF} had filesystem permissions 600; I had to chmod to 644 before my applications started rendering in Noto.
