Recently I bumped into an issue with autohint algorithm. The issue was described at infinality tracker https://github.com/bohoomil/fontconfig-ultimate/issues/113#issuecomment-147172405. It appears only on Input Mono Compressed (weight>=Medium,size<=8), very small bold fonts. Anyway, since font contains manual hints it is better to disable autohinter completely.

I came up with the config by analogy with other ones in /etc/fonts/conf.d/, it consists of two files: 45-input.conf and 90-tt-input.conf. Check out my dotfiles https://github.com/4e6/dotfiles/commit/b4329f385c325f7ebabd9a7da46df9f117c099fa

SHA256 checksum mismatched, the latest one is:

970f4ac3147c92470ccabbb1faf69127e0028142360083cd160fc4af850b86a1

it's generated through:

curl -s "http://input.fontbureau.com/build/?fontSelection=whole&a=0&g=0&i=0&l=0&zero=0&asterisk=0&braces=0&preset=default&line-height=1.2&accept=I+do&email=" | sha256sum

I particularly like the rendering of the compressed variant under Infinality. However like sschober I too had line spacing issues (for anyone wondering, run something that reverses output like htop with the lineHeight=1 version and you'll see glyphs are clipped along the top of the lines). moonboots, would you consider changing the pkgbuild to use the 1.2 linespacing?

For anyone that wants to do this in the meantime, I built the package locally and changed the source url from lineHeight=1 to lineHeight=1.2 and then changed the has sums to array value in the PKGBUILD to (SKIP).

When using this package and urxvt, I got too small linewidths. The glyhps were not centered, but offset to the top of the line somehow. It was most noticable in glyphs with diacrits like 'Ä', for those the diacrit was cut off entirely making them appear as 'A'. Adjusting the lineSpacing setting would not help, as that only added space to the bottom of the lines. Using the package from the original site and using a linespacing of 1.2 fixed this for me.
