Hmm, right.

If the upgrade would always be a 'silent' upgrade, the upgrade-script could be executed by the package manager. However, if the upgrade-script needs user input, then this would become difficult to automate.

I guess you are right. Lets stay on the safe side and leave it as it is.

Thanks for looking into it and giving it some thoughts.

Hi Arthur,

After reading the installation instruction at I don't think it's a good idea for the package to delete the setup directory. It is needed for both a fresh install and an upgrade and according the instructions on the website it should only be deleted after the setup/upgrade script has completed successfully.

Thus I would like to leave the package as it is and hopefully you understand why that is. :-)

Hi Sigmund,

The update went smooth again.
However, there might be an option to simplify the update for users.

Every time when I have updated the package, I have to manually delete the setup folder. Osticket reminds me of this, since the following error appears:

Please take a minute to delete setup/install directory (../setup/) for security reasons.

It would be great if the package could detect if this is an new install or an update and based on that decision remove this directory automatically, of course only when it is not needed (, is it for an update?).

What do you think about this?

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for the notification. I have now updated the package to v1.9.12.

Hi Sigmund,

Are you available to update the package?

Thanks for updating the package.
The upgrade of osticket went fluent.

Thank you for the update, ArthurBorsboom, and apologies that I never reacted to your previous comment, but now everything should be fine. :)

I believe you forgot to update the pkgver in the PKGBUILD.
It is still downloading (and installing) the old version :)
