Ruby is the only one I should probably remove.

Please check the manual before disabling dependencies randomly:

In particular disabling libvirt and hivex will remove major core functionality. Disabling FUSE will remove the guestmount tool which is very popular. Disabling libconfig removes configuration file support.

your dependency list is a bit too long, for instance you disable ruby in the configure list but you still depend on it...

configure didn't complain either when I removed the fuse, libvert, libconfig and the hivex dependencies.

As I said below, the problem is not the packaging of libguestfs. The qemu package is broken as long as linuxboot_dma.bin is not packaged with qemu. linuxboot_dma.bin is a fundamental part of how the qemu -kernel option works, not an optional extra.

bradpitcher commented on 2016-11-18 01:33

@skalkoto Looks like qemu-arch-extras is still not a dependency, are you still planning on adding that?

flex and bison are part of base-devel. You need to have it installed to build packages from AUR.

benjumanji commented on 2016-09-27 17:26

flex and bison are unlisted required dependencies.

@skalkoto so I've discovered it's from launching gnome in wayland vs X. Apparently a wayland session doesn't source things the same way in case anyone else bumps into this.

travisghansen commented on 2016-09-14 15:03

@skalkoto you're exactly right. Somewhere along the way my user's bashrc file started failing to source profile correctly. I've successfully installed now.

linuxboot_dma.bin should not be in an "extra" package. It's now a fundamental part of how qemu boots guests when using the -kernel option. Qemu packaging in Arch needs to be fixed.
