This does not currently build with Java 8 even thought it can analyze Java 8 programs...

Acording to the website Java 8 is supported, please
change java-enviroinment to allow that too.

that's because new versions of makepkg use "set -e" and break backward compatibility with old PKGBUILD's. ArchLinux developers&designers don't know elementary principles of software engineering, they don't know what is format file version and don't know how it can be used.

rm -f lib/.* 2> /dev/null causes install to fail as rm exits with code 1 when it tries to delete . and ..
Either use:
rm -f lib/.[a-zA-Z0-9]*
or just comment out this line.
