@atweiden: I agree, I only wanted to use it to download the foundry db. Do you have any ties to upstream? Maybe the refactor you mentioned would be useful at the source as well.

Since this PKGBUILD offers a systemd service, the start script included upstream is mostly redundant. It is primarily for automatically downloading the DB from the foundry. It may be possible to script the download from systemd services working together. PRs accepted at github.com/atweiden/pkgbuilds, otherwise it always seemed to me that it should either be done by a CM like Ansible, or the downloading part should be refactored out of the start script to better support those who do not want to run software daemons from bash scripts.

I think the solution for this PKGBUILD is to adapt the included start script to systemd in full. https://github.com/atweiden/pkgbuilds

find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 sed -i 's#electrum\.conf#electrum-server.conf#g'

The line:
find . -type f -print0 -iname "start" | xargs -0 sed -i 's#electrum.conf#electrum-server.conf#g'

in your PKGBUILD causes the variable name "electrum_config" in the supplied "start" and "stop" scripts to be changed to "electrum-server.config" which is an invalid shell variable name, thus the scripts are then broken.

I do not know why sed does this since you are looking for electrum.conf not electrum_conf but it does it nonetheless.

Maybe you could look into this.

python2-plyvel replaces python2-leveldb-svn.

'snappy' is needed as well according to EagleTM on #electrum.

'cp -r backends/abe "${DATA_DIR}/backends/"' needs to be removed; it would appear that at least on the master branch, it no longer exists.

Also, python2-leveldb-svn might need to be added as a dependency. It seemed to want it at some point.
