@Rafael: Youre right, I probably messed it up myself (although I'm pretty sure I didn't remove the trailing slashes).
I redownloaded the snapshot, started with a fresh build dir. and .configure + build succeeds now.

@Gimmeapill: I notice that the '--enable-gtk-doc' flag was treated as a command, which shouldn't happen and I was not able to reproduce. Did you remove the backslash ('\') after '--enable-man', or added a trailing whitespace or tab? I recommend downloading the source tarball, or just the PKGBUILD, to solve this issue.
