Could you try from scratch with the latest PKGBUILD? I synched it with the non-git pathway.

I added "git submodule update --init --recursive" into the PKGBUILD, which got past the previous error.

However, one of these submodules it now successfully pulls fails to build. It throws this error:

CMake Error at third_party/freetype2/CMakeLists.txt:123 (message):

In-source builds are not permitted! Make a separate folder for building,

mkdir build; cd build; cmake ..

Before that, remove the files created by this failed run with

rm -rf CMakeCache.txt CMakeFiles

-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

I tried making a third_party/freetype2/builds folder and moving the lists and stuff there, but nothing really seemed to work. I don't really know enough about cmake to do this correctly.

Build currently fails: it uses submodules for dependency management that don't get pulled in.
To fix just stick a `git submodule update --init` in there, or however else Arch recommends you handle it.

The git repository is not stable. Please use the official releases unless you are ready to debug the build.

PKGBUILD bug or source code/project bug? Fails to build: https://gist.github.com/cae7307f5fa1920b34b6

Getting error when building:

CMake Error: The source directory "/home/brott/builds/aseprite-git/src/aseprite-build" does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt.
